Topic: The Spectogram is an activity that is useful for involving everyone in debate around a topical (and ideally controversial) question. It uses a physical space for mapping ideological and philosophical opinions around issues in a fun, dynamic and interactive way.
All you need to set-up a Spectogram, is to draw a huge line on the floor of a big room, and ask a question that allows a range of answers. For example, "what is the key priority for supporting FOSS in Africa: technical support or localisation?" "Localisation" is then represented by one end of the spectogram, and "support" by the other. Participants position themselves according to their opinions, and a facilitator walks around with a mic and everyone explains their position. Participants are encouraged to move along the spectogram as they refine their opinions.
